Seven students traveled to Wichita representing Erie High School and competed in State Forensics Competitions, Saturday, May 3rd. Flora Sanders, Sr., competed in her 4th state competition. She received a I rating and a gold medal for her humorous solo, 'Remotely Related', by Alan Haehnel. Marisa Hunn, Fr., competed in her very first state competition. She performed a serious solo acting piece, 'Empty Smiles', and received a rating of I and a gold medal as well.
Samantha Kendall and Veronica Pontious, Fr., performed a duet called 'Demon Child', and Bryce Ruble, Fr., performed his original oration on growing sweet corn. They all received ratings of II for their first times at state competition.
Jeff Thomas, Sr., and Casey Evans, Jr., both competed in state championships. State champs is run in a regular tournament format with three preliminary rounds, semi-finals, and finals. Jeff performed a poetry piece called 'PPSSSTT, It's the Boogeyman', and Casey competed in extemporaneous speaking.
The team was coached by Cheryl Dalton, and is a successful wrap up of this year's Forensics season.
