Principal's Report

by John Cole

May 01, 2008

                                                            Principal’s Newsletter                          May 2008

Parents:

Good News:  Flavored milk gives your youngster the same nutrients and health benefits

as white milk does.  Children are more apt to drink milk when it tastes like strawberry

or chocolate.   Whichever flavor your child likes, use milk that’s 1 percent or, better

yet, fat free.

Did you know?  Childhood obesity is an epidemic in America today.  About 15 percent

of children are obese, and another 30 percent are overweight.  Experts blame the

problem on too much television and too little exercise, along with soda and junk food

crowding out fruits, vegetables, and healthy drinks in youngsters’ diets.

The students are finished with State Assessments in Math and Reading, and we have

the preliminary results in.  The school results look very good,  but will get final

notification in September.  We will inform you of the final results then.

We are into May, and the final push.  I realize that baseball will be starting, and games

keep the kids out late.  Make sure they get plenty of rest, as our days in school are full

and challenging.  There are field trips scheduled this month, but most of your children’s

days are very busy in the classroom.  Many are involved with Science Fair projects, and

teachers are busy working to complete their grade level curriculum.

Reminders:  Please save your old ink cartilages and box tops for education.  We thank

those who have contributed, and this helps furnish extra things for the school and students.

Warm weather:  No doubt we will be having warm days soon.  We do have a dress standard,

and the children are reminded of this.  Please see that your child is properly dressed before

they come to school.  Shorts must be extended arms and finger tip length, and shirts that

cover the torso.  No mid drifts or spaghetti strap blouses, or the cut off tee shirts at the              shoulders.

LUNCH REMINDER:  Please be attentive to your child’s lunch account, and get this settled

before school ends this year.

Nothing you do for your children is ever wasted.  They seem to notice us, hovering, averting our

eyes, and they seldom offer thanks, but what we do for them is never wasted.
