This Week's Teacher of the Week

This teacher of the week is Mrs. Lucy Walters. When not teaching she enjoys going to activities to watch her former students compete. She especially likes football, basketball, reading, planting flowers and gathering with family members to have a good time.
She has been teaching for 26 years and says the one thing she likes most about teaching is being around the kids and helping them to feel good about their accomplishments. The one thing she dislikes the most about teaching is keeping all of her teaching things organized and filed away after use.
Her inspiration for becoming a teacher came from her mother and from both of her grandmothers, who were all teachers. Once she saw what they did she knew she wanted to be a teacher too.
Advice she said she would give to someone interested in teaching would be ready for busy days, and to make sure and treat all students respectfully. Also have high expectations for yourself and your students. When asked if she had the chance to to teach all over again she replied, "I would definitely do it all over again, I can't imagine doing anything else, and I hope to be teaching children for many years to come!"
