"Besides having the summer off, it would have to be the way I get to interact with the kids. No matter what I feel like or what mood I'm in, they can brighten my day. I try to do the same for them as well." This was the response Ms. Angie Hines gave when asked what she enjoyed most about teaching. Ms. Hines has been teaching for 15 years. Her reason for getting up every morning and going to school is the simple fact that no two days will ever be exactly the same. One thing she dislikes about teaching is all the testing. Her inspiration for becoming a teacher came from her love of school.
Some of her favorite things to do when not teaching include walking, flower gardening and shopping. Advice she said she would give to someone interested in teaching would be you can't be in it for the money - you have to have a desire to touch lives. If she ever had the chance to become a teacher all over again would she--she said most definitely. She realized that she wanted to become a teacher around the 4th or 5th grade.
When asked if there was anything else she would like to say or add she replied," It is such a joy to be a teacher in Erie. The kids, staff, and everyone involved are great to work with. I went to school here myself and it's great to be able to give back to the school and community."
