KansasFutureTeacherAcademy:  Considering a teaching career?  Emporia State University will hold the Kansas Future Teacher Academy – June 15-19, 2008.  Current sophomores and juniors selected to participate will be students who have already demonstrated academic scholarship, leadership skills, and interest in professional education.  Attend workshops, listen to and interact with outstanding classroom teachers, plus better understand college life.  $50 participation fee if selected, postmark deadline is March 14th, 2008.  More information:  www.emporia.edu/jones/kfta.

Johnson County Community College’s Center for Business & Technology is offering summer teen classes on campus.  Programming for Teens (game design, application development, program manipulation all require programming skills), Teen Web Design with Dreamweaver and Flash, and Teen A+ will be offered.  More information on bulletin board and at www.centerforbusiness.org.

Engineering and Science Summer Institute for Students:  held on K-State’s campus  on May 26-30, through the College of Engineering.  Offers an opportunity to high school students to learn about engineering, as well as physics, chemistry, biology and math through various lectures and labs.  Past participants have had a GPA of 3.5 or above, and have scored well on ACT or PLAN tests.  Offered for 1 hour of college credit.  Interested students should apply by April 2, will be notified of acceptance by April 18th.  Applications available at www.engineering.ksu.edu

Leadership Institute at Dodge CityCommunity College:  for high school students who have completed their sophomore, junior or senior years.  This week-long institute offers students a chance to earn college credit, explore their future career path, and to live the college experience.  May choose from one of seven academies which include Business Week, Future Teachers, Visual Arts, Future Nurses, Music, Science and Law Enforcement.  Applications available in counseling office or at www.dc3.edu/li.
