The Erie Elementary 3rd graders in conjunction with the Neosho county extension agent, Tara Solomon, had a "Bread in a Bag" program on February 8. The students were put in groups of four and each got to make their own homemade bread which was mixed in a Ziploc bag.
During the program, Miss Tara talked about lots of different agricultural aspects of making bread. The students watched a video that showed the milling process at KSU. While waiting for the bread to rise, the kids also were able to look at different types of grains grown in Kansas. This was very interesting to all! Even though it was rather messy, much fun was had by all. The best part was the loaf of their very own bread that each student took home to share. Yum-yum!!!
