And the teacher of the week is..... Mrs. Simmons

Mrs. Simmons was chosen for the teacher of the week. This is now her seventh year of teaching. She went to PSU and she is going again and will complete her Masters in May. She first wanted to be a teacher when she was around twenty. She loves working with students and "seeing the learning in their young faces, and she loves to see them succeed." She dislikes being driven by testing. I asked her what advice would she give someone who wanted to be a teacher and why she would give it and she said, "Teaching is not about you, it's all about the students. Your classroom should be a place where they feel safe, accepted, important, and loved. You have to let them know you care that they matter to you."
Mrs. Simmons also said, "My favorite saying (that hangs on my classroom wall as a constant reminder to myself)...
I'm not what I think I am;
I'm not what you think I am;
I'm what I think you think I am."
