On January 9, PBL students took a trip to PowerFlame in Parsons, Kansas. When we arrived, the Human Resource Director, Walter Keener, escorted us to the meeting room where he discussed business etiquette and important skills used in the workplace. We have been discussing these topics in PBL. We all took turns answering some questions about the workplace, and then Mr. Keener asked us "what is the most stressful thing in your life?" Some students suggested different things, such as college, bills, working, etc. Then Mr. Keener gave us all big, red clown noses. His point in doing this was to forget about stressful things and focus on the things that make us happy. Even something as simple as a clown nose will do that. After that, we went on a tour through the plant. The day was productive and helped us understand the skills and business etiquette used in the workplace.
