On September 22, 2007, the EHS Science Club went to Powell Gardens, about 30 miles east of Kansas City. Powell Gardens is home to the longest ‘living wall’ in the United States, and second largest in the world. The ‘living wall’ is a rock wall alongside one of the trails at the gardens that is covered in all sorts of rock-dwelling plants and ivy. As well as the wall, the gardens also play host to beautiful water gardens and fountains, a chapel with entrancing architecture, and an on-site café for dining visitors. The weekend on which the Science Club was visiting, this botanical garden was exhibiting a dinosaur display. All throughout the nature walk were placed live-sized replicas of various dinosaurs, as though time had been frozen for all to see. The Science Club had a wonderful time visiting Powell Gardens.
