7th Grade City Project

The 7th grade students are working on a city project in which they will create their own city. Chad Dozier who is helping with Youth Friends has created a lesson in which the students will create and run their own city. This project follows a unit on city officials and the goods and services offered by cities to their citizens. The students have selected their city officials, which includes mayor, city council, police chief, city manager, and a chamber of commerce. After selecting the city officials the students will design the city lay out, create a city budget, pass city ordinances, and be given a variety of challenging situations they must handle as city officials.
