CNC League Volleyball Action

In CNC LEAGUE Volleyball Action on Tuesday Night the Erie Lady Red Devils hosted their Senior night by defeating Galena in the first match of the evening 25-8, 25-17. Senior Kyleigh Stipp led the Red Devils with 17 points, while serving 7 points in a row in the first game and 10 points in a row in the 2nd. Senior Ashley Dean led the team in assists with 8. Seniors Kyleigh Stipp, Mallory Wimsett, and Sonnie Wyatt all had 4 kills during the match. Seniors Kyleigh Angleton and Kristen Vogts did a great job of passing from the back row as well as attacking from the back row. The two combined for back to back kills via back row attacks to end the first match.
Erie Red Devil first year head coach Craig Smith on the win over Galena: "The team played very well in this match. We did a very good job of working together and hustling after all balls. Offensively, we passed the ball well, we set the ball well, and we hit the ball well. Defensively, we did a very good job of digging balls and did not let the ball hit the floor."
Unfortunately, things did not go as well for the Lady Red Devils in their final home match of the year, as they loss to Northeast in a very close match 29-27, 25-22.
Coach Smith on the loss to Northeast: "We did not play as well as we are capable of playing, but we are improving and we will continue to improve. "
The Lady Red Devils will next be in action on September 29th at the Chanute Tournament.
In the other match of the evening, Northeast defeated Galena 25- 23, 26-24.
