Summer Camp Explorers of Erie & Galesburg

Summer Camp was held July 24th - August 3rd, 2007 for students going into 1st through 6th grades. There were a total 11 adults and 42 students at summer camp.
Teachers participating were:
1st & 2nd - Cindy Hearson, Jennifer Stoneking, and Amy Johnson
3rd & 4th - Lucy Walters, Louise Venneman, Brenda Thornton
5th & 6th - Tonya Craft and LeNoir Rowland
Summer camp consisted of indoor and outdoor activities with all activities being hands on. Meals and snacks were also provided. The last day of camp, August 3rd, was a field trip to the Greenbush Abernathy Science Education Center, with all students participating in a workshop.
1st-2nd - Little Shop of Science
3rd-4th - Insects and the Great Outdoors
5th-6th - Biotechnology Fun!
As part of the summer school experience, the workshops provided numerous lab activities that integrate technology as well as promote a higher order of thinking skills in the area of science.
The fun day at Greenbush was topped off with each child receiving a tee shirt that says "Summer Camp 2007 Abernathy Science Education Center".
The Summer Camp Exploration 2007 was enjoyed by all and created enthusiasm for the upcoming school year.
